Woodland Dwarf (called “Duon” by other races) are your standard rough and tough dwarf that prefer the ways of the forest wild and natural wood to that of caves and stone. Amazing woodsmen and women their woodworking is matched by no other race, creating stunning furniture, crafts and weapons out of wood that are traded in mass quantities to other societies that treasure them greatly. The Duon have adapted and become excellent climbers in the trees, their weight and size seem not to matter, much like the large Silverback Gorillas. The Duon are close neighbors of the Elf, but they tend not to get along easily. The Elf societies usually do not approve of the Duon chopping up living trees and building things out of them.
Average Height: 4’3” – 4’9”
Average Weight: 160-220 lb.
Ability Scores: +2 Strength, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma. They have a heavily developed upper body and are wise in the ways of the world, but are gruff and not pleasing to talk to or look at.
Speed: 20 Feet, but their thick bodies enable their speed to remain unaffected by armor.
Vision: Low Light, you can see twice as far as Humans in condition of dim light.
Languages: Common and Duon
Defensive Training: A favored meal for giants, you gain a +4 dodge bonus against creatures with the giant subtype.
Woodworking Affinity: You gain a +2 racial bonus to Appraise skill checks made to determine non magical goods made of natural material, such as wood and leather.
Sure Climbers: You can climb at your base speed given that you are in a wooded area and can reach the first set of sturdy branches. If you cant reach the first set of branches, make an Athletics skill check to reach it. You also recieve a +2 Racial bonus to Athletics skill checks related to climbing. You lose these abilities if wearing medium or heavy armor.
Hardy: You gain a +2 racial bonus to saving throws against poisons, spells and spell like abilities.
Stability: You recieve a +4 racial bonus to your CMD when resisting a Bull Rush or Trip when standing on the ground.
Wood Cunning: You recieve a +2 racial bonus on Perception skill checks to notice unusual woodwork or unnatural growth patterns, such as traps and doors hidden in wood walls, floors or natural growth of the forest.
Weapon Familiarity: You are proficient with the Throwing Axe, Handaxe, Battleaxe, Greataxe, Dwarven Waraxe and Dwarven Urgrosh.
